Our Philosophy
Reverie Mood is a privacy-first mood journal by Reverie Archive. Your emotional reflections are yours alone. Everything you write, record, sketch, and feel stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it with a friend through the Shared Cove.
What Stays on Your Device
The vast majority of Reverie Mood lives entirely on your device:
- Mood entries, written reflections, and voice memos
- Photos and doodles attached to entries
- Breathing and grounding exercises — activity records and progress
- Letters to the Ether — private postcards you compose, keep, release, or burn
- Ambient sounds and comfort affirmations — usage preferences
- Companion data — your Puff's name and your display name
- Subscription status — your Reverie+ entitlement, stored locally for offline access
- App settings — all your preferences and customizations
What Travels Through iCloud
Two features in The Quiet Room send data beyond your device — and only through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). We operate no servers of our own.
The Shared Cove
Exchange handwritten-style letters with a close friend. You create a private cove by sharing a QR code, and letters drift between you like messages in bottles.
Letter content is end-to-end encrypted
Only you and your friend can read your letters and whisper replies. Apple cannot read them. We cannot read them.
Some metadata (display names, timestamps, delivery status, emoji reactions, and opt-in mood snapshots) is stored in iCloud but is not encrypted. None of it includes your real name or Apple ID.
Shoreline Rituals
Gentle daily intentions you share with a friend — synced through the same iCloud zone as your Shared Cove. Ritual data includes the category (e.g. "walking", "reading"), duration, and daily check-ins with optional short notes. This data is not encrypted.
Your Controls
You decide what's shared:
- Mood sharing — off by default. You opt in per cove.
- Read receipts — can be toggled off per cove
- Leave Cove — permanently deletes all shared data from iCloud for both of you
- Block — removes everything and prevents reconnection
Reverie+
Reverie Mood offers an optional premium tier. Here's what you should know:
- All payments are handled by Apple. We never see your credit card, billing address, or Apple ID credentials.
- Plans include monthly, annual (with a 7-day free trial), and a one-time lifetime purchase.
- We store your entitlement locally — just whether you're on the free or premium tier — so the app works offline.
- Early adopters who journaled before the introduction of Reverie+ receive a complimentary 30-day courtesy period, detected entirely on-device.
- Manage or cancel anytime at
Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.
Reverie Mood uses Apple's Standard EULA for all in-app purchases.

iCloud Account
Required for Shared Cove and Shoreline Rituals. Uses an opaque ID — not your email or name.
iCloud & Backups
Reverie Mood offers an optional in-app backup to your private iCloud Drive. These backups are stored in your personal Apple account and are not accessible to us.
If you have device-level iCloud Backup enabled, Reverie Mood data may also be included. You can manage this at Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups.
Deleting Your Data
You're always in control:
- Delete individual entries, voice memos, photos, and doodles from the archive
- Delete Letters to the Ether postcards, or let released ones expire after 180 days
- Delete iCloud Drive backups from the backup manager
- Leave a Shared Cove to permanently erase all letters, rituals, and shared data from iCloud for both participants
- Cancel your subscription through Apple ID settings — access continues until the billing period ends, then your local entitlement is cleared
- Uninstalling the app deletes all local data
What We Don't Do
- Operate servers — shared features use Apple's iCloud only
- Use analytics or tracking of any kind
- Share, sell, or monetize your data
- Display advertisements
- See or store your payment information
- Read your encrypted letters or whispers
Children's Privacy
Reverie Mood is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Reverie Mood is not a medical app. It's a personal wellness journal. If you're experiencing mental health concerns, please reach out to a qualified professional.
Third-Party Services
Reverie Mood uses Apple's native frameworks — SwiftData, AVFoundation, CloudKit, and StoreKit — which are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. No other third-party services are used.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Changes are reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. This May 2026 edition adds Reverie+ subscription coverage and Shoreline Rituals, and restructures the Quiet Room section.
